Balance Your Work and Personal Life During COVID

The COVID epidemic has been a strange time for us all. Transitioning to remote online employment and practicing social distancing can make it hard to separate working and taking time to attend to your personal needs. While this task can seem like an impossible balancing act, it might not be as hard as you think. Keep reading to learn tips and tricks on how to balance your work and personal life during COVID.

Get A Planner

While this might seem like an old school trick, daily planning can be a great habit to get into, even after COVID settles down. Luckily, websites such as Amazon and Target have cute and cheap planners that can ship right to your doorstep. Decide which times you will dedicate to completing work and reserve times to do things like go for a walk and practice self-care. Planning is a fantastic way to help yourself feel productive and prepared for your days.

Schedule Time for Friends and Family

Social distancing can be a lonely practice for those of us who are used to socializing every day. It is important to schedule time to virtually connect with friends and family. Talking about your day and checking in on others can help you feel much less alone and gain support from loved ones. This is key to balancing your personal and work life. Keeping connected can help you distract yourself from the stresses of work and the news, as well as help life continue as normally as possible.

Set Alarms

Getting into a routine can help you balance your work and personal life. Setting a consistent alarm every morning and waking up at the same time every day can help add structure to your days. Complete your work from 9-5 (or whatever your typical work hours look like) and then close that laptop shut! Make sure to end your days at a strict time daily so that you can relax and decompress. Take time to work on a project, clean or cook that yummy Pinterest dish you’ve been dying to try!

Take advantage of working from home and living by your own schedule. Make sure to take breaks throughout your day to unplug, cook and move around. Taking a moment to unwind can make you feel refreshed and more productive when you restart your task. Stick to a routine of taking breaks at the same time during your workday so that you don’t burn out.  It is important to take care of your work and yourself during this time of uncertainty.
