Amazon Delivers (Amazon Flex)

Amazon Delivers is the section of Amazon providing delivery services across the country. The company is also piloting Amazon Flex in some areas, where you can use your own vehicle to deliver products to customers. Delivery job responsibilities include helping the customer receive their product! Whether you’re working in the starting or end part of that process, these types of jobs have one thing in common: they pay on an hourly basis. Thus, you can take on a part-time Amazon Delivers job and also juggle a full-time schedule if you’re up for it.

Working in delivery services is not for everyone. You will need to make sure that you are able to lift heavy packages on a daily basis. You will need a driver’s license, a vehicle, and be able to follow directions to customers’ houses. Driving all day can be monotonous, but it can also be entertaining and provides a flexible schedule for you. You’ll get to work independently, so this is the perfect position for anyone who prefers to ride solo!

There are full and part-time delivery jobs available through Amazon, so go check them out!

Warehouse Team Member

At Amazon, warehouse team members are responsible for organizing and packaging products. These team members pick up goods from the shelves of moving warehouse robots, package them in the traditional Amazon boxes, and drop them off on conveyor belts for shipment. Amazon is always looking for additional warehouse team members for their fulfillment centers, so check out some of the openings.

This job is another that is not for everyone! Ensure you understand the process and requirements so you can decide if it is a good fit for you. If you like moving around, being active on the job, and lifting sometimes heavy items, this might be the perfect job for you at Amazon. Amazon also provides PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks) training, which allows workers to operate vehicles that can move items too high up on shelves or ones that weigh too much. In addition, they offer flexibility in working schedules, with both day and night shifts available and three days off per week. If work-life balance is important to you, this schedule will be a huge perk.

Working in the warehouse is a team-oriented position. You’ll get to bond with other coworkers and experience a fast-paced and collaborative work environment. This can make shifts fly by and is the perfect culture for anyone who wants a more social workspace!

Take a look at some of the openings for a warehouse team member, and make sure you know everything you need to know about becoming a warehouse worker.

Virtual Positions

As well as the physical jobs that are available with Amazon now, there are also remote positions! If you cannot physically work in an Amazon building, Amazon offers virtual/work-from-home positions. Although the requirements you need to meet are typically much higher for these positions, there are so many opportunities that you can look for that could be a great fit for you.

Working from home sounds great, but it’s not for everyone. Some employees thrive when working in a social environment where they get to collaborate face-to-face with coworkers and managers. When working remotely, you’ll have to have great time-management skills and be able to hold yourself accountable to deadlines and due dates. This might sound stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! Working from home will give you the opportunity to enjoy a flexible schedule while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You’ll get to work however you find most productive!

Working for Amazon remotely would mean you would not have a run-of-the-mill labor job. Instead, you’d be looking at full-time work in your home office environment. We’ve outlined some of these positions below!

Account Manager

As an account manager, your job is to promote AWS (Amazon Web Services) in a specific area by developing a plan for action and executing it to the best of your ability. This would include working with partners to promote AWS and maintaining positive relationships with the customers, and using it. You would need enterprise account management or business development experience in the IT industry, along with field experience in collaborating with higher education. A Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science degree and technical background in CS, engineering, or MIS (Management Information Systems) are all preferred but not required.

According to Glassdoor, an account manager’s salary would be around $82,928, but there are cash and stock bonuses and commissions to take into account. Adding the average additional pay to the average salary yields $106,00 per year! It’ll also be easier moving internally once you have a general account manager role at Amazon already. You’ll probably be one of the first candidates the HR manager considers if you decide to jump to a technical account manager or partner development manager position.

Software Development Engineer

Now, we’re shifting gears from business and technology together to pure technology resources. An Amazon software development engineer role is one of the most difficult jobs to get because Amazon is part of FANG (Facebook Amazon Netflix Google), the group of top technology companies that every CS candidate is aiming for. Besides that, there are other very stringent requirements too.

Basic Qualifications

  • More than one year of non-internship professional software experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language, such as Java, C++, C#
  • More than one year’s worth of experience contributing to the architecture of current and new systems

And this is just the baseline! It makes sense, though, because a software developer engineer’s job isn’t easy in the slightest. You’ll literally be contributing to the development of new Amazon products that could revolutionize our society, like Amazon Alexa. It’s a challenging but exciting opportunity!
Along with the chance to make a visible impact on the world, you’ll be compensated fairly. Typical software development engineers will earn as less as $95,008, and the max pay goes up to $184,859. The work environment is very fast-paced, with tons of projects, so you’ll always be learning and growing as an engineer. Everyone around you is smart and collaborative, so teamwork is never an issue.

Marketing Specialist

The field of marketing is incredibly diverse (there are so many different kinds of marketing jobs) as well as necessary (without marketing, companies wouldn’t be able to share their products)! Especially due to COVID-19, where so many of us are stuck at home, the human or in-store interactions are significantly reduced. Marketing helps to overcome these challenges by bringing products and services to you through technology and media.

Marketing specialists satisfy this need to spread the word about products and services by coming up with, executing, and observing a company’s different initiatives. This would include doing market research, analyzing data to spot trends, and pinpointing the target demographic market. To apply for this role, you would need a Bachelor’s degree in a business field, preferably Marketing or Communications.

They make a base pay of around $75,500, and, if you count the additional pay, it will total around $87,000 per year. Like account managers, they have an easier time jumping to other roles in the company. Amazon also has marketing manager, senior recruiting marketing specialist, and product marketing manager positions, so if you do become a marketing specialist, there are definitely opportunities for advancements. Joining Amazon now can offer you a fantastic growth opportunity that will structure your future!

Part-Time vs. Full-Time Positions

Amazon offers jobs for people looking for both full and part-time positions. They even make it easy to apply for these jobs! You can simply text a number to get alerts when these part-time positions open up for hourly positions. If you are looking for a flexible role to make some extra cash, along with job security, consider applying for one of these part-time jobs with Amazon.

If you have expertise in a specific field such as marketing, communications, human resources, or anything else, Amazon is such a huge company that they likely have openings for your specialty. The benefit of the full-time jobs with Amazon is that they will provide a significantly higher rate of pay, with compensation that includes healthcare, retirement plans, and more. It is always important to look beyond just the salary when applying for a job. Benefits are equally as important! Let’s take a look at Amazon employee benefits you could enjoy if hired.

Amazon Employee Benefits

As with many companies, the benefits from a job are an important factor to consider before taking the job. Amazon provides similar benefits to other companies for their full-time roles. Some of these benefits include healthcare, paid leave and time off, and retirement plan options. Full-time employees can also participate in purchasing Amazon stocks! However, with all of these benefits, the best one might be that all Amazon employees receive 10% off any Amazon purchases.

If you have the qualifications necessary, definitely apply for these positions. Amazon is only growing bigger, as we speak, and its foreseeable future is bright. These positions offer great job security and since Amazon is a well-known company, these opportunities will look great on any resume! You’ll be sure to impress any future employer by having a skillset built by working at Amazon. If you see any more great openings, let us know on our social media!
